This year, the country of Italy will include illegal drug sales and prostitution costs in the calculation of the Gross Domestic Product, or GDP for short. They are hoping that by including the sales of Cocaine and sex trafficking they will meet their deficit targets. The economy of this Mediterranean country has been stagnant as of late, around 3 percent less than it was in the year 2001. Italy's Prime Minister said that after four recessions in the past 13 years, something needed to be done, and apparently counting this illegal, underground dirty money was the solution to the countries problems.
