Today and tonight, around 11PM to 4AM, a never before seen meteor shower will appear from out of the northern sky. If you direct your attention towards the constellation camelopardalis, the peak of the shower will be around 2 in the morning. This is the first time that we have seen this meteor shower. Meteor showers occur when the earth moves into a cloud of particles, roughly the size of a clump of dirt, and the contact causes them to vaporize in the earths atmosphere. Because this is the first time we've encountered this dust cloud, the shower may end up being more like a meteor storm. One thing's for certain, if you can muster yourself to stay awake until the wee hours of the morning, you won't be disappointed.
